The presidential candidate of National Interest Party(NIP), and chairman of the party, Mrs Eunice Atuejide has dropped her ambition of contesting fot the coverted office in the 2019 presidential polls due for Saturday, February 23. ln the same vein,she has declared full support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President. Usani Declares Cross River Govenorship Candiate

The Court of Appeal has affirmed  Usani Usani as APC's governorship Candidate in Cross Rivers, and refused Owan-Enoh's request for stay of execution. The court had also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the list of candidates presented by the Etim John led leadership in the general elections. Among those on the list as presented by the Etim John faction include the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, who is the governorship candidate for the March 9 election.

Coast Guard officer charged with plans to carry out a mass killing was arrested last Friday on gun and drug charges along with the alleged mass killing plan. Christopher Paul Hasson, 49, of Silver Spring, Maryland, is alleged to be a white supremacist who had a hit list that included prominent Democratic politicians as well as several journalists from CNN and MSNBC. Hasson's case was first circulated by counter-terrorism expert, Seamus Hughes and the George Washington Program on Extremism. Hasson's hit list includes Democratic politicians -- Rep. Weeks after he alleged that he was the victim of a hate crime,Empire star actor, Jussie Smollet has been arrested on suspicion of filing a false report about it, Chicago police said Thursday morning. The "Empire" star turned himself in and was taken into custody around 5 a.m. CT, police said, ahead of a 1:30 p.m. bail hearing. Smollett faces a felony charge of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report claiming he was attacked by two men, including one who was masked, in the early morning of January 29 in Chicago. He alleged they yelled racist and homophobic slurs, tied a rope around his neck and poured an unknown substance on him. The news that Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last autumn, after being requested to do so by Washington, has been reported by a Japanese newspaper on Sunday. Theclates story surrounding the recent attack on one of Empire's lead actors, Jussie Smollet is left many dazed . Two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation revealed to CNN that Chicago Police believe actor ,Jussie Smollett paid two men to orchestrate an assault on him that he reported late last month. But Smollett has denied playing a role in his attack, according to a statement from his attorneys. The men, who are brothers, were arrested on Wednesday but released without charges on Friday after Chicago police cited the discovery of "new evidence." Election Observation Missions of the European Union (EU), African Union (AU), United Nations (UN) and others have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to finalise all preparations and ensure that the new election dates are adhered to. They said this in a joint statement signed by eight organisations and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja, in light of the postponement of the general elections. Other signatories to the statement are the election observation missions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Commonwealth Observer Group and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa. Some others are the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the National Democratic Institute/International Republican Institute.
